Something fishy is going on
Manly Aquarium is situated just a four minute walk from the Manly Ferry Wharf. It has three main exhibitions on display including the Penguin Cove, Underwater Sydney, Shark Harbour and Shark Dive Xtreme. It is an exciting place to visit no matter what the weather is.
Roll up your sleeves and discover the hidden mysteries in the rockpool at the Underwater Sydney display. In the rockpool you are able to touch shark eggs, crabs and other amazing under the sea creatures.
An interesting fact to know is that there are more fish species found in Sydney Harbour than in the entire Mediterranean Sea and you get to experience most of them at the Manly Aquarium.
The Shark Harbour display is where you discover some of the deep and amazing wonders of the seas. The tank holds a massive four million litres of water that is situated through the underwater viewing tunnel that many animals call home. You can spend hours watching the majestic stingrays glide by, or trying to spot Sea Biscuit, who is a rescued Green Sea Turtle. The tunnel is also filled with many adorable and colourful fish and the stunning Grey Nurse sharks along with other shark species.
If you visit the aquarium on Monday, Wednesday or Friday you are able to witness the divers hand-feeding the animals.
If you are all for adventure and want to get up close and personal to one of the king's of the ocean, then the Shark Xtreme is a must do... It allows you to dive with the amazing Grey Nurse Sharks for an exhilarating experience. Please check the website for more information.
It is truly fun to spend a day or a couple of hours here at the aquarium. The best way to get here is by ferry or bus, you can drive here but parking is a bit difficult to find as it does get busy in the Manly area.
