It will be an enjoyable, fun day full of laughs, charity and competition! This event was the winner of the 'Community Event of the Year' at the 2016 Manly Australia Day Awards. All funds raised go to Tour de Cure for help find a cure for cancer. They are a charity who raise much-needed money for cancer research. So the money you spend at this event goes to such a good and worthy cause for the many thousands of people who suffer from this awful disease.
This year, it will be held on Sunday 17th March 2019 and it is touted as "the Northern Beaches craziest charity event." So make sure you do not miss out and register/get your tickets here now. It will be on at Shelly Beach in Manly.
All the pandemonium and fun starts at 10.30 am and go till 12.30 pm. The Boat Race is back to celebrate its 15th year and to witness this fun race, you will need to go to one of the Northern Beaches' best Summer charity events. Here you will once again be able to paddle yourself around the 1 km course. The course will go from Shelly Beach and then back to the shore.
You could even get dressed up to make it even more hilarious - or dress down! You could go as a sea captain, a pirate, a mermaid, an animal such as a fish, or dress down and stay in your pyjamas. Let your imagination run riot here! But organisers insist that even if you dress down, you must wear something! However, the crazier or weirder you dress, the better!
You can come along with any sort of inflatable raft, from pool ponies to caterpillars, and you will then paddle your way with many others on a short course.
The event was created by Denver Bevan. There will, as usual, be a heap of prizes to give away.
You will be able to buy a delicious sausage sizzle and there will be a prize for everyone who enters! So find yourself a float which will act as your boat and join in for some good summer fun!
