Finding a classically styled wedding venue
Anyone who has ever planned a wedding, or is in the processes of planning one, knows how much decision-making is involved. Hearing first hand experiences often makes this overwhelming task easier. So I'm writing a series of reviews on the services used at my recent wedding, in the hope they are at least a little bit helpful.
First up is "venue". We inspected lots of wedding venues and ended up choosing Manly Golf Club for many reasons but here are the top 5:
Its classic appeal
Manly Golf Club was built in the early twentieth century and a big selling point for me and my husband were the classic features. It's hard to resist the wood-framed, multi-paned windows and doors, and grand piano played by the resident pianist over three-course dinner. It certainly adds to the romance.
Functionality There is an elegant and secluded room hidden away in this golf club and it's known as The Chapel. There are also, of course, sweeping golf greens that lend themselves to a perfect outdoor setting. This versatile setting means you can choose to have your wedding ceremony at the venue, as well as hold your reception there. We settled on a church wedding, but in considering an outdoor wedding it was good to know we had a back-up in the beautiful chapel.
The planning of your wedding is never straightforward or stress-free, but you will have an experienced co-ordinator dedicated to your special day and on hand to organise every aspect of your function. She'll keep you on track prior and best of all, on the day/night you need not even think twice about what is due to happen next. The organisers manage time, and some wayward guests! They will also keep you informed as to where you need to be next – whether it's to cut the cake or to get people to their seats for the dinner. The table service was extremely professionally undertaken – silver service standards.
Food for the foodies We were treated to two menu-tastings and a vast array of menu choices for our wedding. If you're a foodie you won't be disappointed. The wine selection is also notable; with even their cheapest wine package a selection of good wine. Your guests will have a lot to thank you for.
Location, location, location Our preference was to have our wedding on the Northern Beaches, so Manly Golf Club not only ticked that box but it's also in a handy location. While it is named the golf club of Manly, it is actually just outside of Manly. This means that you're set apart from the hustle and bustle of busy Manly town, but getting to transport or other facilities after the wedding is very straightforward. As part of our package we had a chauffeur drive us a few minutes down the road to the Manly Novotel for our wedding night.
