I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
Overlooking the water, Manly 16ft Skiff Club is a pleasant relaxed place for a weekday lunch, just a short walk away from Manly Wharf. The location on East Esplanade affords great views of the water traffic on Manly Cove and there is plenty of free two hour street parking nearby if you get in early enough.
The club opens up to a beautifully styled alfresco deck that makes the most of the stunning location with a Mediterranean feel. As you grab a drink from the bar and pull up a bar stool, instant relaxation hits.
The menu contains the usual club staples of burgers, pizzas, schnitzels and steak, but has understandably a heavy seafood influence. There are blackboard specials, as well as daily deals and special events. Children are fated for with $12 kids meals.
The salad containing gravalax of salmon for $26 sounded delicious and was a huge serving. There was more than enough salmon and plenty of avocado combined with the flavours and textures of beetroot, orange and chilli.
The Angus rump steak for $27 was cooked to order and accompanied by a good serving of hand cut chips and a light mixed salad. The steak was well flavoured and tender and the dish was a good choice for lunch. The fig salad and fish and chips were also enjoyed by our dining companions.
Manly 16ft Skiff Club offers catering for events such as weddings and birthdays. Live music is provided at the Sunday arvo sessions and they hold Trivia evenings on Wednesdays. There is a TAB on site and TVs for live sports broadcasts. All of the staff were friendly and had great attitudes.
Enjoy a lazy afternoon drinking and dining on the water at Manly 16ft Skiff Club.
