The Mandurah Performing Arts Centre (MPAC) was officially opened in 1997. Since then the centre has gone from strength to strength showcasing talented visual and performing artists from all parts of the globe, as well as promoting local artists and performers. The centre is a cultural hub for the Peel region.

As well as full program of local, interstate and international artists (check the MPAC link below) coming up in late may are two artists carrying out workshops at the Alcoa Mandurah Art Gallery (Dance Studio).



Trudy Whitcher will be facilitating a Pastel Workshop, introducing those with an interest in this amazing medium, the opportunity to learn how to blend and build colour along with other techniques and tips. The workshop with be held in the morning from 9am to 12pm on Wednesday the 30th of May.

On the same day, but in the afternoon, from 12.30pm to 3.30pm Deborah Zibah will be holding a Painting Workshop which seeks ' to blister boundaries, explore new ground and dive into the depth of undiscovered vistas ! ' If you want to learn how to draw and paint more intuitively as well use some unconventional materials in your work, then this is the workshop for you!



Both events are fifty dollars for a three hour in-depth artists workshop and all materials are supplied on the day, as well as tea and biscuits.

MPAC is well worth a visit, if not for a workshop, show or exhibition then for its inspired architecture - there are plenty of restaurants and a pubs nearby so why not make a day of it. The building is predominantly glass and its views of the Mandurah estuary a simply astounding. Look out for dolphins which are often seen swimming in the estuary.

For those of you who like to paint or draw these two workshops are the perfect opportunity to meet new people and explore your talents. All you have to do is turn up and enjoy the exquisite atmosphere of the MPAC building and all it has to offer. Don't miss out, MPAC is a wonderful place to visit and also improve your creative knowledge.
