The foreshore is always packed for this event with major streets in the hub of Mandurah being closed for the night's entertainment. 18,000 spectators are expected to attend this year's celebrations. Highlights include a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm, as well as the perennial favourite, the Christmas Pageant which will include over 40 floats created by local schools, businesses and community groups. The pageant starts on the Western Foreshore making its way over the Old Mandurah Traffic Bridge and then through Mandurah's main streets.

Entertainment includes (on the Bendigo Bank Stage) the Mandurah Concert Band and the Peel Community Concert Band. Foundation Christian College Students will also be bringing the Original Christmas story to life with a special nativity scene.

For the kids there will be the Old MacDonald's farm and petting zoo. For last minute gifts an outdoor Market at the northern end of the foreshore will inspire and delight.

For this year's celebrations a very special community project has been undertaken by local school students and art groups who have decorated wooden Christmas Trees, which have been made out of recycled wood by the Mandurah group - the very talented Kim's Toys Boys. The wooden trees have been designed to not only look amazing and add colour to this year's event but also to promote the message of recycling. Another project on the night will be the Community Christmas Tree Project which will see live Christmas Trees decorated and displayed and then, in the New Year, planted around the City of Mandurah.

All and all, if previous year's celebrations are anything to go by, this year's Mandurah Community Christmas Pageant and Celebrations will be huge and a lot of family fun. For more information about road closures for the night please visit the City of Mandurah website.
