Beautiful cake in a beautiful mall

The Siam Paragon in Bangkok is one of the newest and most prestigious malls in the Siam Square area of town. This shopping district is known for the multitude of shopping malls, including the local centred MBK which has one enormous floor devoted soley to mobile phones.

The Paragon is a bit more upmarket, however, and in the basement is one of the most amazing food courts I have ever seen.

There is an incredible supermarket containing the best gourmet produce from all around the world and there are an array of restaurants serving everything from Japanese to burgers and local Thai delicacies.

And then there is the Mandarin Oriental Shop.

We walked past to see an enormous macaroon on display to advertise their collection of freshly made deserts. They make everything on site in the middle of the cafe and you can see how they take great care in the preparation of some incredible cakes.
We had two of the most wonderful deserts, which would cost a fortune in the West, we paid about 120Baht each.
