David Williamson's acclaimed play comes to Perth

Harbour Theatre is proud to kick off their exciting 2019 season with Managing Carmen, written by David Williamson, one of Australia's best-known dramatists and playwrights.

This fun-filled and fast moving play is brought to the stage by talented director Ann Speicher and features an exceptional cast of local actors.

It will play for a strictly limited season this March - tickets are now on sale.

Managing Carmen is the tale of Brent Lyall, who at the age 24 years old has everything. He is a dual Brownlow medallist and a sports god AFL star. However, he also has a secret which could not only ruin his career but put at risk lucrative advertising endorsement deals for the prestigious footy club.

When Lyall's hyperactive and hysterical Manager finds out that in his spare time Brent likes to cross-dress, he goes into damage control with hilarious results. Add a sleazy sports journo hell-bent on digging up the dirt on Brent and damaging the famous clubs image, a manufactured ex-hooker girlfriend and a performance coach doing her utmost to help the conflicted star and you have Williamson's high energy witty play about football as business entertainment.

Managing Carmen is thought-provoking and timely entertainment, highlighted with hilarious and poignant multi-layered characters. Williamson's notes he was inspired by "... managers behaving badly. All they seem to want is to maximise the dollars they can get out of their champions before they are too old and have to retire, so it's a matter of cramming in as many endorsements as they can."
