Mamak is magnificent Malaysian food. Mamak means repeat visits. Mamak means crispy, crunchy roti canai. Mamak means murtabak. Mamak means curry. Mamak means nasi lemak. Mamak means rojak. Mamak means sambal. I could go on, but I think you get the general gist.

This is the local Malaysian go to for Melburnians. The first time I went to Mamak, I was told by a local Melburnian who had Malaysian heritage that this is her favourite place to go to whenever she is craving food from home. That's all the testament I need.

I have since been back more than once to eat my way through the menu. Think sweet and savoury roti. Think murtabak a delicious roti pastry filled with meat. I recently tried the lamb curry and it is simply one of the best curries I've eaten since coming back to Melbourne. I do enjoy ordering the roti canai. It's a crowd favourite.
