Rojak @ Mamak #BED
Our shared selections, roti canal - a must try in any Malaysian restaurant - thin delicate layers of dough and butter, crispy on the outside and moist and fluffy on the inside, served with curry dipping sauce. Tastes as good as it looks! Kari ikan (fish curry cooked with fresh tomatoes, okra and eggplant), somewhat overcooked but flavourful and a generous serve. Kari sayur (vegetarian curry cooked with lentils, fresh tomatoes, carrots, potatoes and eggplant), hearty and just like a home-cooked meal. Top choice by far, Rojak, a Malaysian-style salad made of prawn and coconut fritters, fried tofu, hard-boiled eggs, freshly shredded yam-bean and cucumber, topped with a thick spicy peanut sauce.
All this delicious food was plenty enough for 3 people, and with left overs which they happily packed for us, for around $20 per person!
Expect noise, crowded basic seating, and limited service, so leave the olds and kids at home. Enjoyed by those who want simple and quick meal.
