Ma Ma Sichuan Restaurant

[MOB640L] Ma Ma is a large Sichuan restaurant on Swanston Street, not far from Melbourne Central (not to be confused with Big Mama's , a Korean and Japanese restaurant within walking distance).

I arrived just after 5pm yesterday for an early dinner and the restaurant was already beginning to fill.
A more adventurous person might have sampled the buffet or selected from a range of cold dishes, but I ordered the chili chicken with peanuts and rice.

I basically had the best waiter ever. First he checked that I was okay with chili (I was), then whether I'd meant to order the 2-person serving (I hadn't), and then, "Would you like to move somewhere less crowded?" (Sure, why not).

My meal, like the restaurant, was beautifully presented, and there was lots of it. The chicken was bite-sized and tasty and the sauce was sweet at a first, before the spiciness kicked in. There were lots of peanuts and I think I tasted (an entire clove of) garlic.
