Where in Perth can you get a taste of George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Hugh Jackman? Well, you can get a taste of cupcakes inspired by these Hollywood A-listers at Mama Mahoney's Cupcake Amore.

I first learned of Mama's cupcakes from a similarly dessert-crazed aunt who insisted that I go to the Malaga Markets that very day and look for "this little shop that has the best cupcakes!" Anyone who knows me well, knows that I get weak in the presence of cake, cupcakes to be precise. And that I'm on a never ending quest to find the prefect cupcake. My criteria: a moist, fluffy cake base, creamy, yet not-so-sweet frosting and delicious, interesting flavours. Mama Mahoney's Cupcakes Amore have fulfilled them all- and then some!

While you are spoilt for choice, I recommend starting out with the Hollywood inspired ones. The "George Clooney" is a chocolate cake base with a delicious mocha frosting. The "Brad Pitt" is a also chocolate cake, but with a Graham Cracker biscuit base and a marshmallow meringue frosting. But the crème de la crème, and my personal favourite, is the "Hugh Jackman"- a vanilla cake with a rich caramel filling, topped with a salted toffee buttercream frosting. I could almost hear my taste buds making Wolverine whistles as I was devouring it.

If you're a bit of a purist, The Signature Chocolate cupcake with cream cheese frosting will hit the spot. And if you're looking for something vanilla, try The Wedding Cake- a vanilla cake base with vanilla buttercream frosting. Another one of my favourite is The Classic Black and White- a vanilla and chocolate marble cake with vanilla and chocolate swirl frosting. Unfortunately for me, the quintessential Red Velvet was sold out at the time, which makes for a good excuse to come back and try the rest of the other flavours.

What I truly like about the cupcakes at Mama Mahoney's is the fact that they're full of flavour, yet not cloyingly sweet. It's a fine balance between cake and frosting and, what can I say, Mama's nailed it. Now, I've actually saved the best for last- at just $3 a piece, these cupcakes are truly a steal. And if you go during happy hour, which is the last hour of trading, they're just $2 a piece. Perfect for anyone with a constant craving for cupcake.
