You think you're a metal head? Well, guess what? You're not if you haven't heard of the new thrash metal band taking over the world, one head bang at a time, Maltheist.

Maltheist began after lead guitarist, Tim Maastricht and drummer, Josh "Hendo" Henderson left Brisbane local band, Chronolyth and chose to pursue a much different musical path, resulting in the bands mental sound many have grown to describe as, "epic".

Soon after, the band needed a bass guitarist, a second guitarist and a singer /screamer, whose voice could encapsulate the thrash metal sound that made Maltheist who they are today.

Their wish was granted (no fairy godmother present) when in came Dale Rutland who auditioned (by buying the rest of the band, pizza) to be Maltheist's lead singer and screamer. He auditioned for the part; no instruments needed, and tore the place apart with his voice, described by lead guitarist, Tim Maastricht as "deep and raspy".

Enter guitarist, Glen Donovan, also ex-Chronolyth, after expressing great interest in their work, along with Sean Matulich, who auditioned for bass guitarist and won everyone over after one rehearsal with his crazy skills and stage antics!

Since collaborating, Maltheist have had the privilege of playing live at Revenge of the Gods at the Mansfield Tavern in December 2012 and just last week for the Lagerstein All Ages Europe Tour Fundraiser Send Off Party at Wynnum West Primary State School.

With influences such as, Exodus, Pantera, Slayer, and Anthrax, Maltheist have quickly grown from a garage band to a much sought after professional thrash metal band, with gigs lined up in the near future to prove their worth!

Don't miss their next show, Dark Relic EP Launch Show at Tall Poppy Studios in Salisbury, Brisbane, March 2, 2013 at 6pm.

And if you happen to miss it, you can catch them at the next Ye Gods of Metal Festival at the Mansfield Tavern, Brisbane, an all day event starting at 10:30am til 1am the next morning!
