Cheap & Cheerful Irish Pub Food
The Australia Day long weekend is coming up. What better way than to spend with your work colleagues on an early after work drink at this CBD Irish pub?

Meal Summary

Maloney's Hotel has been renowned for its good old fashioned value meal deals and a great selection of beers and drinks.

The Hotel certainly looked and sounded lovely from the outside and inside.

Initially we were just having a few casual drinks but everyone seemed to be excited about the long weekend and so much to share, we decided to grab something to eat here as well.

It's Friday, so obviously we missed out on their Mon-Thurs meal deal. It didn't bother us as the average fare for the meal is not that steep anyway.

Chicken Schnitzel w/ thick cut chips $12.00

The food was really great; it all came out in good portion sizes and not expensive. We were pleasantly surprised.

It is very spacious inside with 2 diner areas and we were able to get a seat for 9.

First up is their signature dish - The chicken schnitzel with thick cut chips for $12.00. It looked and smelled fantastic and was devoured with pleasure.

I have to say, the wedges here are fantastic. Twice fried crunchy crispy golden wedges smothered in melted cheese, chive and real bacon pieces and served with sour cream and sweet chili sauce. We couldn't help but to go back for more. Very moreish and goes well with our drinks.

Next is the Irish Stew. Initially we weren't sure about ordering a stew on a warm Summer evening, but it looked like a good comfort food selection, so we ordered it anyway.

We were very pleased with it. Creamy mash potato in thick tomato-based beef stew - I could just have this for the whole day. Absolutely love it. Match it with cider on tap is just too perfect.

Of course, we have to get some salad to balance out the drinks and enormous amount of chips & wedges. Don't think you can go wrong with a good Summer chargrilled chicken Caesar salad.

We were pleasantly surprised at the fitness of this prawn risotto dish. Simple yet elegant. The pub food standard has certainly raised a few notches. It tasted great and was reasonably priced as well.

We all started to unwind after some drinks and good food. It is just a really good relaxed atmosphere with live music performances.

If we linger longer, there is the Happy Hour $4 Drinks from 10pm to 12am. They are also hosting the Happy Long Weekend Celebrations with Specials and Entertainment, too.

If you don't feel like firing up a Barbie in the rain over the weekend (sorry, but that is the latest weather forcast), Maloney's Hotel is not a bad choice, great meal and drink selections, big TV broadcast, live entertainments and you don't have to do the shopping and washing ups... sounds fun already.

Not a fine elegant evening out with the girls but definitely a value meal beer with the boys.

By Sydney standards - definitely well worth the money.

What a great way to start the Australia Day long weekend.
