Do you love shiny, beautiful classic cars? Do you love exploring Melbourne's iconic village precincts? If you answered yes to either one of these and even if you are not sure but are up for exploring, then this event is for you.

In its second year running Auto Classico presents the stars of the classic (as well as modern) auto and bike enthusiasts' dreams. Even if you just like looking at these beautifully polished objects of desire and love, without understanding much about their engines or inner workings, you will be thrilled to see them all on display. There will be around 155 cars and bikes on display, worth an estimated AUD$70 million. A large number of these are the Italian iconic cars such as Lamborghini, Lancia and Fiat - cars from Melbourne's 6 Italian car clubs will be represented. The other cars are a mix of British and European cars, Jaguar, Austin Healy, MG plus German cars including Porsche and Mercedes Benz (with a couple of very special rare cars). As most of these are owned privately you can be assured they will be looking their best and their owners will be more than happy to have a chat to you about their prized possession. Keep a look out for some of the rare and limited editions such as the red 1926 Lancia Lamba Torpedo Tourer. There will be a People's Choice Award as well as awards for other categories.

Maling Road, Canterbury is well known for its quaint village atmosphere with a number of historic buildings, restaurants, cafes, homewares and fashion shops. If you have never been to this part of Melbourne, next Sunday might be the perfect time to visit. All of Maling Road will be closed off to allow public access and viewing from 11am until 3pm. Entry to this event is free and there will be entertainment for children as well as adults. Cars can be parked at the Canterbury Station car park and in adjoining streets.

A truly unique event, Auto Classico combines cars with a special village and community atmosphere and allows people to move freely between cars on display and a coffee, breakfast or lunch in restaurants and cafes such as Maling Room , Alleycat Cafe or Squisito . Please check out all the cafes and restaurants here and on Facebook .

At the end of the day, in a spectacular finish to the event, all cars will get ready to leave in a finale of loud noise, tooting of horns and purring of expensive motors. Seeing these cars on the road en masse is truly special, something which was highlighted in motoring news at the inaugural event last year. Bring your camera, your family and your car dreams and wishes along to this unique event next Sunday, 20th August 2-17. Remember Father's Day is just around the corner!
