Sawdust will fly as millers turn trees into usable wood - red and white cedar, camphor laurel, white beech, rose gum, black bean, blue quandong, and other native and weed timbers will all be available for purchase. Head over to a Wood Shed workshop to learn to make a coffee table or stool. Buy a handmade wooden gift or learn about Australia's Wood Heritage, observing almost forgotten timber felling skills, which early settlers relied upon.
Watch trees being milled
An important part of the Maleny Wood Expo is dedicated to sustainable living, protecting biodiversity and discovering the benefits of farm forestry. All this will make you hungry, so pull up your haybale and enjoy Maleny's fresh produce - there will be plenty of food stalls, a Landcare BBQ and $2 from every cup of Montville Coffee will be donated to local landcare.
Kids can play in the haybale maze
From Chainsaw to Fine Furniture, Maleny Wood Expo will be fun for all the family. For kids, there will be face painting, candle making, art workshops, roving street performers, and a haybale maze. The Maleny Music tent will keep toes tapping with gypsy trio, Great Scott and Gypsy Loco, Noel Gardner, Hayden Hack Infusion and Tommy Leonard.
