Say goodbye to winter and welcome the fresh beauty of spring with music at the Maleny Music Festival on August 31-September 2. We all know how music improves our overall mood, unites individuals, creates community, inspires creativity and has great psychological health benefits, so this is a festival not only for creativity, connectivity and sharing but is good for your wellbeing too!

As music lovers converge on the festival venue the atmosphere at Maleny Showgrounds and around Obi Obi Creek will be brought to life in celebration of music. Get ready for three days of sound, dancing, singing, instrumentation, community and joy! On Friday evening, the Gubbi Gubbi dancers, a dance company from the traditional custodians of the Sunshine Coast region, will kickstart the event with a Welcome to Country performance.



The musical talent is eclectic, so there is something for every taste and ear. An assortment of musical instruments electronic and acoustic, percussive, blown, strummed, plucked, drummed and played will create wonderful music. Country, blues, roots, jazz, Irish, funk, acapella voices, rock, dance, afro-Cuban, folk, storytelling music and more will fill the air for you to enjoy. There are over 60 acts presented, many of the musicians are homegrown from the Sunshine Coast, or from other parts of Australia. You can find out more about the artists here .






The festival program is set for music performances on different stages, on the streets, and there will be workshops such as holistic dancing, songwriting, ukelele, tunes and singing, hula hooping and songwriting for those who want to hone their craft. There will be an open mic stage to show off your artistic talent if you dare!

Food and market stalls will be parked on the green and music will no doubt inspire an impulse to dance so wear comfortable shoes, or better yet in true festival style kick off your shoes and dance barefoot!

If you want to make a weekend of it, camping is available along the lovely Obi Obi Creek on powered and unpowered sites. You can see the prices for festival tickets and camp on the festival website. There is both paid and unpaid entertainment to see.

While you're in the area you could check out the shopping and some of the cool cafes in Maleny, or the lovely nearby Maleny Botanic Gardens .
