The Big Barrel

There's no way that you could miss this Winery on the way into Maleny, the Barrel Cellar Door is a gigantic landmark on the Landsborough-Maleny Road. If, like me, you've seen it but never ventured inside, it's a unique place to stop and sample some excellent wines.
Positioned in what could arguably be one of the most scenic spots in the heart of the Sunshine Coast hinterland, with stunning views of the Glasshouse Mountains, Maleny Mountain Wines showroom is an eight metre high wine barrel - perhaps another 'Big Thing' for Queensland? Their range is extensive and includes reds, whites, fortifieds and dessert wines - sweet and dry choices - a range to suit every palate. A selection of local artworks and products are also available to purchase.

Should you have a celebration in mind, the experienced staff at Maleny Mountain Wines are most accommodating and can assist you with suggestions as to what wines would partner well with which meals, ensuring the best wines are selected for your special day.

The Barrel room has a unique look and feel with high ceilings and subtle lighting, making it an ideal wedding venue. Situated at the rear of the property is their Ceremony Garden offering privacy and seclusion, overlooking the range and mountains and a short stroll across a quirky little bridge is the Maleny Mountain Wines' very own vineyard, a perfect setting for photos.

This distinctive venue is large enough to host groups and bus tour groups and no matter what your event is, Maleny Mountain Wines is a superb setting with breathtaking views. Open seven days a week from 10.00am to 5.00pm for wine tastings and sales. They have an online shop and Gift Vouchers are also available - for that discerning family member or friend who has everything.
If you're not into wine-tasting, or perhaps it's a bit early in the day to do some sampling, it's a great spot to have a coffee and cake or perhaps a platter and just wander around the property to enjoy the stunning views and the spectacular environment of The Big Barrel.
