Majestic Gardens, Magical Maleny
The Maleny Botanic Gardens are one of the best kept secrets in the Sunshine Coast. A beautifully majestic landscape of pure serenity and charm, these immaculately kept gardens are a must see for anyone who loves peace, quiet and serenity.
A great idea is to bring a picnic and enjoy a lovely lunch sitting in the stillness of the gardens. Alternatively there is a lovely quaint cafe located at the top of the gardens overlooking the mountains where you can enjoy a beautiful lunch or cup of tea.
The gardens also include an aviary covering over 1000 square metres which is home to over 300 birds. They house lorikeets, exotic parrots, cockatoos and lots of other cheeky birds. Hourly tours run for those wanting to know more about the birds. There is also an animal enclosure, which is home to friendly goats, sheep, alpacas, ducks, guinea pigs and a miniature horse and donkey.
The gardens cover over 14 acres and are always expanding. They are surrounded by beautiful rainforest and are graced with breathtaking views of the Glasshouse Mountains. Make sure to bring your walking shoes, plenty of water, a hat, sunscreen and a camera as it is a 6 km circuit around the entire gardens. There is lots to see including some beautiful lakes and waterfalls.
