Located on level 4 of SkyAvenue,
Malaysian Food Street offers an array of local hawker fare that is quite authentic. Twenty different hawkers have been brought together under one roof. These hawkers represent various parts of Malaysia including Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Melaka, Ipoh and Kuching.
Among the recommendations is Hon Kee Porridge from Petaling Street. They serve four types of porridge with boiled chicken and deep-fried intestine as side orders. I had the fish porridge, and to my surprise, it wasn't bad at all.
Chicken rice, fried kway teow, kolo mee, bak kut teh, etc are also available. And, the Hainan counter has egg tarts for sale if you're quick enough to get your hands on them. To cool down, there's either chendol or ice kacang.
As for breakfast, I opted for the dim sum set which consists of lo mai gai, har gow and shumai. The portion size was more than sufficient for me at eight in the morning.
So, if you're after some local flavours while holidaying in Genting Highlands, be sure to check out Malaysian Food Street. For more information, visit their website at
