If strolling along NYC streets sampling international fare at festivals has become a favorite hobby, then you won't want to miss the upcoming Malaysia Noodle Festival, sponsored by Malaysia Kitchen for the World.
On September 27, head over to the Chelsea Triangle in the Meatpacking District, and follow the aromatic scents of cumin and coriander, plus seafood, laksa and curry leaves, sesame oil and lemongrass emanating from the stalls—accompaniments to the star component—noodles, oodles of it. Surrounded by bright red lanterns and the tasty and fragrant dishes, you may even feel as if you've been transported to one of Malaysia's open-air markets.

Sip the spicy broth from your Nonya seafood laksa soup, which comprises of rice noodles, two Gulf shrimp on a piece of scallop and halibut, topped with coconut foam and colorful drops of chili oil and basil oil from Spice Market. Normally priced at $22 at the restaurant, enjoy this dish, as well as those from other participants, for $4 to $8 each, at the event.

Savor Fatty Crab's six- to eight-ounces of Mee Rebus, a three-potato curry dish, which uses yellow egg noodles and ramen. And, there's more—prepare your palate for scrumptious cuisine from other top-rated restaurants, like Todd English's Ember Room, Penang (Upper West Side), Laut, New Malaysia and others.
Enjoy your taste of Malaysia, in Manhattan—which comes without the pricey airline ticket, jetlag or those troublesome lines at Customs. Don't be surprised though, if other like-minded hungry folks flock the festival for their noodle fix during lunchtime, which is when the event starts—especially if the weather cooperates.
