Free viewing of King Kong
From King Kong Facebook - note the puppeteers in the background

Perhaps you are lucky enough to have tickets to King Kong the grand extravaganza which is taking Melbourne by storm.

But for those of us less fortunate, this free event at least grants the opportunity of getting up close to this terrifying one-tonne, six-metre tall animatronic gorilla.

The monstrous monkey was created by Global Creatures, a production company based in West Melbourne and well known for their production of Walking With Dinosaurs.

This free viewing is held at the Regent Theatre where the musical will be taking place. So you get to experience this beautiful old theatre as well.

In this session the creative team behind King Kong will talk about this innovative theatre production. It has been five years in the making and involves a cast of more than 40 actors, singers, dancers and circus performers.

Not to mention the team of puppeteers who will summon up this sleeping giant in order to shock and horrify the audience in this spectacular production.

This sounds a fascinating session as well as a chance to ensure you don't miss out on what the rest of Melbourne will be raving about.

It is a real first for Melbourne to launch this production - not Broadway or the West End - and it puts us on the world stage.

You can book tickets here.

What time? I tried to book but bookings were closed. Why was this only published today? Shame.

I had the pleasure of coming from Dunedin (New Zealand) to see this last Saturday. It was fantastic and if I could have, I would have gone again. Great show. This is a great opportunity for people to get close. Make the most of it.
