The perfect way to explore the Fiji Islands
If you want a truly amazing, personalised, one-of-a-kind day trip for your group in Fiji, you've got to book this boat. Seriously, this is the kind of experience that will make your idyllic dreams of Fiji come alive (and to be honest, not every day trip here will do that for you).
Making Memories is a 44-foot catamaran (motor boat) owned by Leanne and Rob. Rob actually built the boat himself--and it is gorgeous. He originally built it as something for the family to enjoy together with their children (which they do), but recently they have decided to share it by chartering it out. Based out of Denarau, Nadi, the boat can take you anywhere you want to go in the Mamanuca island group.
The boat is charted at a set fee, so the more people you have, the less it costs per head (20-something people or less is perfect in my opinion). There are two jet skis for hire as well. I've been out on Making Memories twice now, and both times the jet skis were the highlight of the day for the group--they were constantly running--just trading off riders now and then so everyone had a turn.
If jet-skiing isn't your thing, just name what is! Swim, play, lounge with a book in the shade, sun-bathe, sip a cool drink ... or simply cruise the islands and enjoy the beauty of Fiji. At lunch you can either enjoy a catered lunch or bring your own meat, and the staff will grill it up for you on the built-in barbeque at the back of the boat.
As far as the destination(s) ... well, that's entirely up to you. Some highlights for us were scuba diving at Mana, snorkeling and sunning at the Malolo sandbar (think crystal clear water and glowing white sand). Other options would be Cloud 9 (a floating man-made island where you can enjoy a delicious meal and a drink while watching world-class surf breaks). Maybe the dolphins will join you as they did Leanne last time she went out on the boat, jumping alongside the bow in sheer joy.
The boat could be chartered for adults-only, but it's perfect for families, too. There is a large covered area with plenty of shaded seating where children can sleep or play when they're not in the water. The front deck is great for sun-bathing. There are two toilets, a little kitchen area and a top deck as well (great for jumping from)! This boat is a comfortable, sand-free way to enjoy the beauty of Fiji.
I have to leave you with a quote from a guy in the last group we took out on the boat who said, "This is the nicest thing I've ever done IN MY LIFE." It's pretty awesome. . . as the name promises, you'll make memories to last forever.
