Camembert Cheese has got to be one of the most popular cheeses at Christmas time. When you put out a cheese platter, the old favourite camembert will always be one of the first to go. With its gooey centre and mild taste, it can be enjoyed by all ages.
On Saturday, November 14th Canberrans get the chance to learn how to make their own camembert at home - perfect timing just a month out from Christmas. The Canberra Environment Centre will play host to Gürkan Yeniçeri, Canberra's very own artisan cheesemaker who has written several books on the subject and is enthusiastic about teaching you how to do it yourself.
In this three hour course, Gürkan guides you through the basic principles of cheese making before starting a workshop where he guides you through making your own camembert wheel. Handouts will be provided and remember to take a container to transport your precious cheese wheel home.
Meet other cheese lovers and enjoy a few hours of immersing yourself in the art of cheese making. Imagine having friends and family over for Christmas as telling them you made everything yourself - including the cheese.
