Ever had a catchy tune inside your head? Well, chances are you're not alone. There are probably millions of people in every part of the world who would have a song or musical tune playing in their head at any one time.

But there'd be a lot less people willing to compose their own piece of music. Fortunately, technological innovations in musical equipment - like synthesised keyboards for instance - have made the creation of music a lot easier these days.

Synthesised keyboards come in many brands and vary significantly in cost. Different keyboards have different settings and ways of composing music. Regardless of what keyboard you use, the steps taken to put a brilliantly sounding tune together are basically the same.

Start by recording the melody on your keyboard. You could set your keyboard so that it sounds like a piano, violin, or saxophone. Choose whatever is appropriate. Ensure that you practice a number of times before you record it.

Depending on the keyboard, a huge range of sound effects, instruments, pre-set rhythms and synthesised equipment may be available. Add those in, one at a time, to the beat of the recorded melody.

I normally begin with a pre-set musical rhythm, followed by synthesised background noises and ending with various sound effect embellishments. Be patient. It takes a lot of practice to order everything according to tempo and to achieve the right blend of music. Perfect pitch also helps.
