A 'Wicker-ed' idea for Mother's Day
A precious mum deserves a precious gift. So why not get 'carried away' and show your mum just how much you love her this Mother's Day (or on any other occasion for that matter) with a self prepared gift assortment which says 'I love you Mum' in a very unique, heartfelt and thoughtful way.
No one knows your mum quite like you do. So what are some of the things that your mum loves and enjoys? Does she drink a certain kind of special tea, love your home made caramel slice, love to spend time in the garden, read, home decorate (Tree of Life shops in Australia have some beautifully coloured, reasonably priced cushions, frames and mirrors, which you could build your basket theme around). The ideas are effortlessly endless - a bit like the love you have for your mum.
Get shopping. Have fun. Be creative. Once you've selected your items choose the right sized gift basket. You might be surprised at the selection on offer from some of the 'cheap' shops. While you're there, throw in some decorative finishing touches like ribbon, cellophane and tissue paper if you haven't already got these at home.
The fun part. Assemble. Scrunch up some tissue paper and place at the bottom of your basket before placing your items. If you're feeling creative, make a personal home made gift card.
Don't forget to add some 'natural' colour and scent. Pick a small posy of flowers from the garden, wrap the stems with some lace or twine and pop in your basket on the day you're to give your gift. If you have a long journey, maybe wrap some damp folded paper towel then alfoil around the stems before the lace or ribbon.
Last but not least, enjoy the priceless smile on your mum's face when you give her her gift. It may almost be as priceless as the love she has given you since the very day you were born.
Happy Mother's Day to all of the precious and much loved mums, none more precious and much loved than mine.
