See the beautiful sunflower maze at Majura Valley Farmgate
As summer dims in Canberra for another season, one final pop of sunshine will be back to add a last splash of colour in 2023. This year, the Majura Valley Sunflower Maze is expected to burst into bloom sometime during March and through April providing Canberrans with an insta-worthy backdrop of blooms.
The sunflower maze is made up of hundreds of huge yellow flowers and wandering among them gives you the opportunity to slow down and relax. This is the kind of experience that manages to be fun for everybody: from families to loved up couples, influencers to those just wanting to take a few minutes soaking up the sunshine and blooms, it's fun, relaxed...and rumour has it that this year a corn maze will also pop up meaning double the fun!

Sunflowers as far as the eye can see at Canberra's very own sunflower maze
The maze is free to visit, you can stay as long as you please and you might even get a hug from Peppa the farm dog. The towering yellow flowers, big blue skies and gentle hills make it feel a world away from the Canberra city centre and with a little imagination, you could be in the sunflower fields of Tuscany or Provence or lost deep inside a corn maze in Wisconsin. No need for a passport though because these sunflower and corn mazes are located conveniently just outside the city centre next to the
Majura Valley Farmgate shop.
When you visit the Majura Valley Farmgate sunflower maze, you can take the opportunity to pick some fresh flowers to bring home (make sure you don't cut them from the maze, though - there's a signposted picking area) and stock up on supplies from the Majura Valley Farmgate. The shop has seasonal fruit and vegetables straight from the market garden as well as eggs, meat, compost, worm castings and more. It's an honesty system so don't forget to pay up and don't panic if you have no cash - there's an easy self-serve electronic payment set up too.
A visit to the Majura Valley Farmgate during sunflower season is guaranteed to make you smile and if you buy some fresh produce, you can feel good knowing you've supported a local business and saved on your food miles (this is hyperlocal shopping at it's finest). Shopping there is a win for you, a win for the community and a win for the environment so mark a visit in your calendar and get going!
The Majura Valley Farm Gate is located at 728 Majura Road and open from 8am - 7pm daily.
