Maison Saint-Honore Cake and Macaron Factory is located at 100 Benara Road in Caversham Western Australia. It opened last November and has a wonderful vibe. It is surrounded by lush greenery and fields of grapes. The Swan Valley is the perfect setting for this French inspired café because it is the closest thing to France without actually going there.
Maison Saint-Honore serves traditional French pastries and macarons and cakes. The first thing you will see when you step inside is a giant glittering tower of macarons. The interior of the café is all dark brick. It feels like you're in an old pub. If you're visiting the Swan Valley as a tourist you will find lots of things in this café that will make a great souvenir.
This is just a small selection of what is on offer. Other delicious treats include jars filled with chocolate buttons, almond brittle, hot chocolate mix, bags of crushed macarons, chocolate slices and jars of sauces. All of these are displayed artfully on tiered tables with a tower of macarons topping each one.
In the first room of Maison Saint-Honore there is a large window where you can watch the chef making macarons and other sweet treats. There is indoor and outdoor seating. If you have kids make sure you visit the outside area. There is a large grassed area with seating and a playground for the kids to play on.
Maison Saint-Honore is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 5pm. They serve breakfast, lunch and brunch. Some of the breakfast highlights include a Crepe Breakfast for $16 and a traditional French Breakfast for $12. If you are there for lunch the cost of a main ranges from $18 to $25 dollars.
The best part of Maison Saint-Honore is of course going there for the sweets. When we were there we got a Tasting Platter Surprise from the Chefs for $20 to share between the four of us. The fun part of ordering this is you don't know what you're going to get. The chef will choose for you.
The platter came out on a wooden chopping board. It had a chocolate tart, a cup of ice cream, a strawberry macaron, a lemon meringue tart, a custard tart, a deconstructed pudding with a dash of cream and a pudding in a cup. It was all artfully dusted with a pinch of icing sugar.
The Tasting Platter was really worth the money. We each had two sweets each. I had the macaron and the cup of ice cream with my coffee. I was really impressed with the plating of the platter and the quality of the food was excellent.
I will definitely be coming back to Maison Saint-Honore again.
