A stay at home Mum who doesn't stay at home much; too many exciting things to be discovering in this city...
The Peninsula serves up its finest fare
Food, wine, music, art, entertainment and shopping. Where can you go to sample all of these delights in one place? The Main Street Mornington Festival would be a good start. Taking place on Sunday 20th October, this annual festival is now in its twenty-fourth year and promises something for everyone in the family. Mosey on down to the beautiful Mornington Peninsula (as if you needed an excuse) and enjoy this showcase of cultural fare.
On the gastronomic side of things, local growers of fresh seasonal produce will be in attendance with a range of delicious food available to purchase, and a large selection of Australia's best wine makers will also showcase their wares. As far as entertainment there are no fewer than seven performance spaces featuring everything from live music, to children's entertainers, to community groups.
Children will be kept busy with their own dedicated area which includes an animal farm, as well as a stall run by Mornington Peninsula Libraries and a sensory area run by The Messy Shed where kids can do what they do best – get dirty! Roving entertainers include the Amazing Toys mascots, the Mrs Sippy Jazz Band and vertigo-inducing stilt walkers.
If you fancy a spot of shopping or browsing, there will be a variety of boutique clothing stalls lining the street such as Lisa B jewellery, Lil Green Rhino and Millie n Me. Other exhibitors include 2nd Mornington Sea Scouts, Aracari Design and the Australian Marine Mammal Foundation. The festival runs from 11am until 5pm, at which point you can adjourn to the beautiful Mothers Beach at the end of Mornington Main Street and chill out with your toes in the sand.
