Main Street in Mordialloc is a nice little place to go, it has its little idiosyncrasies like every cafe, but they make a mean poached egg!

I'm never too sure when I turn up whether the people who work there will be very friendly or almost completely ignore me, but today I was very lucky to be served by a really lovely waitress who was quick with the menu's and quicker with the coffee.

Sitting outside to enjoy a very late breakfast of poached eggs on toast with housemade rosti and Mexican style baked beans, my little dog and I watched the world go by. The food was tasty and very filling, and when I was joined by a friend who lives locally, I was very happy to sip my warm latte and shoot the breeze whilst she enjoyed Main Street's version of an avocado smash.

Advocado Smash

I like going along to Main Street every now and then, the coffee is pleasant and I like that I can order it through a little window on the side street as I like to sit outside to enjoy a mug of latte. The place itself has a little bit of attitude, the owners and the staff obviously feel it offers something very special, though I sometimes feel it would be nicer if they focused on consistency.

It's a nice little joint if you're near Mordialloc and fancy a cup of coffee or a good poached egg.
