A magical snow dome experience in the heart of the city
On the 30th of June, the kids and I boarded the train on our way to Federation Square. My son was all rugged up and had his beanie pulled tightly over his head, all prepared for the snow. We were heading into the Magical Snow Dome Adventure held in celebration of the opening of Victoria's snow season.
Federation square was abuzz with excitement. Shooting through air were thousands of tiny drops of 'snow'. Hundreds of eager young children standing in line, bursting to enter the dome and have snow ball fights or have their pictures taken with the giant snowman.
The Dome had only been operational for less than an hour when we got there; already the queue to enter was stretched back for miles. There was an average wait of one and a half hours for a few moments of snow filled bliss.
There was also the appearance of X-Factor winner Dami Im, who happily posed for some photos on her way to entering the dome. She cavorted in the snow with some ecstatic kids, providing perfect photo opportunities for her legion of young fans.
The opportunity to play with snow amongst the magnificent backdrop of Melbourne City, was a rare sight to behold. It was an event that made a lot of children incredibly happy, and was sure to have created some great memories for the thousands who attended.
