Fun on the mountain for the whole family
There are many exciting mountains in Australia. Mount Kosciuszko, for example, is Australia's highest peak. The Snowy Mountains (where Mount Kosciuszko is located) are the highest mountain range in Australia. The Blue Mountains is a beautiful World Heritage-listed site in New South Wales. Mount Buller and Mount Hotham in Victoria are well visited during the ski season. And Mount Panorama is home to the famous Bathurst 1000 motor race held in October every year.

However, there's one mountain in Australia that stands out from all the rest. Here you'll meet adventure, fun, challenges, and more excitement and energy than the Bathurst 1000.

Welcome to Magic Mountain!

About Magic Mountain
Magic Mountain is a theme park located near the town of Merimbula in the Sapphire Coast of New South Wales.

Magic Mountain first opened in 1983, the brainchild of five local families. It has since expanded, offering visitors many more exciting experiences that cater for young children right through to adults.

My little family and I visited Magic Mountain on a recent weekend getaway to Merimbula, and my 6 year old boy declared that Magic Mountain was his absolute favourite experience of the entire weekend! Here's why:

The Rides and Attractions
Magic Mountain has a wide variety of rides and attractions that cater for all ages and abilities. My son's favourite is the Doom Tube & Black Hole, two very thrilling water slides. Be warned, though: the Black Hole slide is not for the faint-hearted! As you go down the slide, you'll actually be plunged into pitch-black darkness for a few seconds before emerging into the sunlight once again.

The Toboggan Run is a fun ride that winds through bushland and overlooks spectacular Merimbula Bar Beach. It's a terrific ride that's suitable for all ages. However, children 5 years and under must ride with an accompanying adult.

The Tube Rider is action-packed and lots of fun, with plenty of twists and turns. It's also suitable for all ages.

And you can be King of the Mountain Grand Prix-style as you race around the Grand Prix track. My husband enjoyed this ride so much more than our son did!

There's also the Maze, which the whole family will enjoy doing. The maze features twists and turns with potential surprises around every bend.

And then there's the famous Sapphire Speedster Coaster. It was closed when we visited but hopefully will re-open in time for the summer school holidays. Like with all roller coaster rides, there are also height restrictions on the Sapphire Speedster Coaster.

Other rides and attractions that are just perfect for younger kids include Crazy Car, the Pirate's Playground, mini-golf, splash pool and jumping castle. And if they're dinosaur mad, then they'll love the little Triassic Park located between the Tube Rider and waterslides.

Tree Climb Challenge
Opened in 2014, this thrilling high ropes adventure course has 3 courses offering more than 30 amazing challenges. You get to climb amongst the trees & fly over the park at exhilarating speeds, with rope bridges, high wires and wooden obstacles along the way. Each Tree Climb Challenge Session is 2 hours, which includes access to all courses, safety equipment and training.

The Tree Climb Challenge has age and height restrictions and is open to anyone aged 8 years and over.

Facilities
Magic Mountain has plenty of lush green space, shady trees, picnic tables and BBQ areas for you and your family to enjoy. There's also a kiosk offering delicious hot food, fish n chips, wraps, coffee, hot and cold drinks, ice creams, and so much more.
There's also toilet facilities, a little gift shop and plenty of parking.
