Looking for somewhere different, but not too far from Sydney? Sometimes travelling with kids is hard work - all the planning and packing and thinking of ways to entertain them, not to mention the dreaded car trips. By the time I think about it all, part of me just wants to stay home, lie on the couch and let them watch TV! But I persisted and found a little gem, just 90 minutes' drive from Sydney – Magenta Shores.
Magenta Shores is located just past The Entrance and Tuggerah Lake, 90 minutes north of Sydney. We stayed at
Pullman Magenta Shores. They have a range of accommodation, including rooms, as well as two and three bedroom villas for bigger groups. With a spectacular golf course, driving range, tennis court, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, there's enough to entertain young and old alike.
From the resort, you can walk to the beach. When we were there in the middle of summer, there was not a soul in sight. As far the eye could see, we had the whole entire beach to ourselves. It was an amazing experience! I really felt I had escaped the hustle and bustle of city life. The beach is not patrolled and the waves a little rough, but the kids had a great time playing in the sand and searching for shells.

If you feel like taking a short drive, head to Norah Heads at sunset. Take a walk to the lighthouse and the rocks and you will not be disappointed with nature's night show. We even found some crabs in the rock pools.

Magenta Shores is definitely an easy destination for Sydney-siders to escape, relax and enjoy!
