The award winning Magarey Orchard, 40 Magarey Road, Coromandel Valley is opening its doors for its annual harvest festival, Saturday April 16 –Sunday April 17 2016. Situated in the stunning Adelaide Hills, this is an event not to be missed.

As well as enjoying the beautiful orchard walks and tantalising your taste buds with some delicious fresh fruit, visitors will also enjoy an array of activities such as face painting, truck rides, high teas, and live music. Plus, there is historic machinery on display and adults will no doubt enjoy sampling the refreshing cider made with local fruit too!

Some of the vehicles on display include a 1926 Hupmobile and a 1919 T-Model Ford, however if you're something a little more modern, check out what the local CFS is showing.

And the fun doesn't stop there- revellers can swing their partners at the Orchards traditional evening bush dance on Saturday night!

Magarey Orchard is a family run orchard that has been in Coromandel Valley since the beginning of the 1900s. Originally came from England, the Magarey family first went to New Zealand before settling in Adelaide.

"Our family initially had a flour mill and then bought the farm in 1909," explained Michelle Magarey, from Magarey Orchard.

"We've even got some of the original trees," she added. "They're not bearing the best of fruit these days, but they are stunning – you can really see the heritage of them been a work horse for all those seasons of fruits."

Now in its sixth year, the Magarey Harvest Festival is a regular fixture on the Coromandel Valley calendar.

"The community is often lost in today's modern life, and this a real opportunity to experience real fruit straight from the tree and into your mouth," said Michelle. "It's not been frozen for a year before hitting the shelves."

Someone's grumpy! Pears come in all shapes and sizes!
Even if you miss the harvest festival, you can still visit the orchard and get your fruit fresh from the farm. The farm grows premium varieties of pears, apples, nashi's, plums and apricots which are sold direct to the central markets and local retailers.

Nothing goes to waste, the 'roughs' are also sold and are great for juicing and baking.

Entry to the Harvest Festival is $7 for adults, $5 for concession and children under 12 free, with proceeds going towards the operations of the family Orchard.

Tickets to the barn dance on Saturday night are limited, so get in touch with the Magarey Orchard and be ready to swing your partner round and round and turn your corner upside down!
