The Madman Anime Festival is an Australian convention that is devoted to anime and Japanese culture. The convention began in Melbourne back in 2016. It was so popular it became an annual event and was expanded to include shows in Perth and Brisbane. The Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane legs are held months apart.
Madfest will be returning to Perth this year from the 3rd to the 4th of March at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. General admission costs will be $40.00 for a Saturday Day Pass, $40 for a Sunday Day Pass, $60 for a Weekend Pass, $290 for a Madfest VIP Experience ticket and children 10 and under will be free.
Madfest is an extremely popular event among anime fans. In the past, it has held anime exhibitions, premiere film screenings, market stalls, creator zones for artists, community performances and events and the Madman National Cosplay Championship.
The Attack on Titan Exhibition will definitely be worth seeing. The exhibition has travelled all across Japan. Its appearance at the Madman Anime Festival will be the first time it has ever been shown in English.
In addition, there will be an Akiba Shopping Zone selling lots of goodies from Japan and the Mai-Wish Candy Store will be selling Japanese sweets.
There will be a Creators Zone for illustrators, artists, animators and cosplayers to showcase their artistic talents. The Creator Zone is not for the sale of commercial products (if you wish to do that you must register for an exhibitor booth) and attendees will be restricted to a single table.
And to top off the festival, Madman will be hosting the 9th annual Madman Cosplay Championship. Do you have what it takes? The winner of the Perth Festival will take part in the finals at the Madman Anime Festival in Melbourne. For more information, please check out their website.
