Fri 24 Nov 2017 - Sun 26 Nov 2017

After the success of the Made Local Winter Market, Stackwood in Fremantle are holding a "Summer Market" which will be ideal for Christmas presents.

The summer edition of the market will focus on local makers and play host more than 30 stalls selling locally made gifts and wares such as ceramic planters, artist prints, textiles and jewellery.

Although this is not a huge market, it is a very worthwhile one which has locals using their talents to make interesting products. The market will also have the following food trucks so you can eat your heart out as well as shop:

  • Comida do Sul
  • Eat No Evil

  • Flitch and Leaven serving up Brazilian street food and classic food truck fare

  • Stacked Cafe will be serving coffee
  • Mary Street Bakery doughnuts to satisfy your sweet tooth
  • La Paleta - Mexican icy poles

  • Earth Friendly Arts will be there again to provide children's entertainment and the Stackwood studio residents will also be sharing their wares, including:

  • ceramics studio Winterwares
  • art by Sally Mundy

  • flowers by The Wild Stem

  • skincare by Clean Slate Skincare

  • The Stackwood concept store will also be full of plants to add to your collection.

Stackwood will be providing refreshment for visitors and a local musician will perform around sunset on Friday, as well as throughout the weekend.

    [b]ABOUT STACKWOOD**
Stackwood is a fairly new and exciting creative venue and concept store in Fremantle. It is situated in a former diesel workshop and the Stackwood community has maker's studios, an event space, and a concept store. Their mission is a simple one: "to encourage a more wholesome way of living".

They want us to meet our neighbours and share a nourishing meal; they want us to learn new (in fact, old) skills like:

  • Propagating
  • Crafting
  • Cooking
  • Making

  • They also want us to "invest in useful products that are good for us and good for our environment".

They strongly believe in the "value of supporting local producers, makers and service providers, and they also foster the community by offering space for meetings and gatherings and hosting free community events like their seasonal food swaps".

They also run many workshops and this is an important part of their work as they also believe that when you learn to do something you are "making an investment". These new skills are usually vastly different to finished, bought products.
