It was a miserable and rainy Queen's Birthday public holiday in Sydney on Monday the 11th of June, 2012 but my friend from the USA and I braved the rain with our umbrellas and made the trip to the Aquarium Pier in Darling Harbour to visit the new Madame Tussauds Wax Museum which opened up in Sydney on the 16th of April, 2012.
It was a brilliant afternoon out! The wax figures were so life like! The museum is divided up into different sections such as Australian historical figures, World Leaders, Sport, Music, Film, TV and A-List celebrities and you can get your photo taken with personalities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Ned Kelly, Julia Gillard, John Howard, Queen Elizabeth II, Cathy Freeman, Kylie Minogue, Michael Jackson, Albert Einstein, Rove McManus, Oprah Winfrey, Bert Newton, Dame Edna, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monro, Nicole Kidman, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and many others.
My personal favourite wax figures were Ian Smith who played Harold Bishop on Neighbours, Rove McManus and Dame Edna. The Dame Edna one was so extravagant! I also really liked that they had some information you could read about each character and there were props around some of the figures so you can really get into the Madame Tussauds atmosphere and be interactive.
It's definitely an attraction that can be done with the whole family or on your own and there's something to see for all ages. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family and could go there again.
