Legendary
Giacomo Pucini's Madame Butterfly is playing at the
Sydney Opera House , with very talented opera singers in the Concert Hall, with amazing props, put on a truly sublime performance.
I watched the matinee in row M with my husband, tissues in hand while Australian born James Egglestone played Lieutenant B J Pinkerton. His voice soared through the auditorium giving me goose bumps and bringing tears to my eyes.
The very beautiful, Japanese born Hiromi Omura played the adorable 'Butterfly' and sang with so much soul in her voice that filled our hearts.
Suzuki, Butterfly's servant, was played by Dominica Matthews and Goro, the Marriage Broker was played by Graeme Macfarlane, captured the essense of the performance, portraying their characters with brilliance.
Reds, yellows, blues and whites covered the room, flower petals fell from above all in the name of romance, tradgedy and love. I cried and cried, and even throughout the long standing ovation of applause my tears continued to fall.
We thoroughly enjoyed every single moment, including the very gifted orchestra conducted by Tom Woods.
Magnifico Giacomo Puccini, grazie, grazie grazie.
