Join in the celebrations of the 4th anniversary of Mad Max
Mad Max, in its time, was a popular movie and a huge percentage of the population flocked to see it.
Now it is 40 years since its release on 12th April 1979, Scienceworks will be putting on a special event where you can take a step back in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first movie in the Mad Max franchise. The event will include the screening of the film in an outdoor open-air cinema.
Due to popular demand, this event will be repeated over two nights – Thursday 11th April and Friday 12th April 2019. It will be on at Scienceworks, 2 Booker Street, Spotswood. Doors will open at 6.00 pm and the cost will be:
The events will feature a special cinema screening of this iconic film Mad Max along with replica cars and a special guest speaker. There will also be tours of the Pumping Station and you will get the opportunity to re-live original Mad Max scenes on location.
The Spotswood Pumping station is one of Australia's most important industrial heritage sites. It has animations, oral histories, archival footage and a number of interviews with museum experts and former workers. You can enjoy the fascinating story of the Spotswood Pumping Station which was built in the 1890s.
You will be able to buy food with a range of hot food and snack options on offer plus alcoholic drinks.
The stunning seven-metre diameter spherical sculpture Museum of the Moon will also be opened for viewing for the events. This alone is worthwhile going for!
Patrons are encouraged to bring in seating options of picnic rugs/bean bags/yoga mats/deck chairs/camping chairs. This will ensure that you will be comfortable sitting outside in the arena.
There will be two zones for seating within the event. The zone closest to the screen will be reserved for visitors sitting on the ground on their picnic rugs/bean bags/yoga mats. The second zone, further from the screen, will be for visitors to sit on their camping/deck chairs.
Organisers also recommend bringing blankets, pillows and warm clothing as the event will be outdoors and the overnight temperature in mid-April can be quite cool.
PLEASE NOTE - the event on Friday the 12th of April is sold out. Tickets are still available for the event on Thursday 11th of April, but hurry, as they are selling fast!
