Look for a party hat and join Clay Art Benowa for their Mad Hatters Tea Party, on Sunday 9th September, 2012.

There will be all sorts of pottery with the Tea Party theme for sale - cups, saucers, teapots, plates etc and even plates in the form of playing cards and cups like upside down hats. If you enjoy wacky and unconventional, you may just find a new addition to your collection.

With drinks and nibbles provided, it sounds like a fun afternoon out.

I was intrigued by the origin of the phrase: "Mad as a Hatter", which refers to:
" the 19th century usage of a mercury-based compound in the making of fine hats. Due to long-term exposure, hatters would often develop symptoms of mercury posioning, such as tremors or mood-swings, that would make them appear "mad" to others". Source: Wikia.com
