I'm a Victorian freelance writer & photographer living in the Macedon Ranges north of Melbourne.
Macedon Ranges Annual Top Tipple
The annual Macedon Ranges Wine and Food Budburst Festival will be staged over the weekend of 12th – 13th November and is guaranteed to bring large numbers of both serious and fun-loving wine aficionados to the Macedon Ranges, one of Victoria's premier wine growing regions.
Each year the wineries of the Macedon Ranges combine with farmers, restaurateurs and service providers to present Budburst, a showcase of all the region has to offer visitors. Photo: Ian Gill / Footloose PhotoBank
The great thing about Budburst is that it's a festival on the move, taking visitors across the length and breadth of the region, this year sampling more than 100 quality wines from 30 vineyards at 17 different locations including a number of HUBS where tastings will be conducted by multiple vineyards.
Budburst showcases some truly great wine and food in a relaxed and friendly country atmosphere only an hour's drive from the center of Melbourne.
If you don't want to drive the festival has this year organised buses departing the Woodend and Kyneton railway stations on both Saturday & Sunday.
Two of my favourite wineries in the Macedon Ranges are Paramoor where the tasting room is a former stable for Clydesdale horses and full of intriguing memorabilia ....

The list of participating wineries is impressive to say the least, bringing together some very well known labels and some not so well known but producing great wines nonetheless.

But Budburst is more than just a wine tasting, it's a case of the vignerons and wine makers combining with farmers, restaurateurs, entertainers and service providers to showcase all that the Macedon Ranges has to offer visitors.
A Weekend Winery Pass will cost $20 and include a quality Plumm tasting glass. Bus transport costs $35 per day.
