Garden lovers rejoice at this wonderful opportunity to visit Stephen Ryan's Macedon garden 'Tugurium'.

Stephen Ryan is probably best known for hosting the Gardening Australia television show on the ABC. From the age of 10, Stephen worked in his family's nursery before starting his own nursery Dicksonia Rare Plants in 1980, from here he became a passionate collector of rare plants. Stephen also writes for magazines, newspapers and gives lectures, and has enjoyed his current position, which he has held since he was nineteen years old as the President of Mt Macedon Horticultural Society.

The opportunity to view his garden over winter is extra special, as he rarely opens them in winter. It's gives visitors the chance to see the 'bones' of the garden.
"You will see lots of early flowers such as Hellebores and Cyclamen, but I hope what inspires will be the shapes and textures in the garden" Stephen Ryan.

Also open is the Australian Emergency Management Institute with 7 acres of garden to explore with meandering paths, creeks, ponds and fern gullies. The vast garden includes deciduous trees, evergreen trees, shrubs and an extensive range of Australian natives.

Australian Emergency Management Institute was first opened in 1956 as The Australian Civil Defence School. Since then, the AEMI has had a roll in building and supporting national security developments.

This is your chance to view the gardens at the Australian Emergency Management Institute in Mt Macedon, and enjoy afternoon tea here with tea and coffee available along with cakes & biscuits. This garden has pram and wheel chair access along with toilet facilities.

Australian Emergency Management Institute is located at 601 Mt Macedon Rd, Mt Macedon
