"Something wicked this way comes…"
Macbeth. A dark journey of black-hearted ambition, betrayal and murder: the original Game Of Thrones.
Victorious after a war in the wild Scottish highlands, famed general Macbeth is seduced by three weird sisters – witches – who envision that he will be king. Spurred on by this prophecy, and by his adoring and endlessly ambitious wife, he sets about a wicked scheme of the King's murder. But their massive sin follows the blood-stained couple far beyond the King's grave, and Macbeth and his wife must now struggle against the ghosts that plague them.
Directed by Michael Attenborough,
the Queensland Theatre Company in association with the Grin & Tonic Theatre Troupe's exalted cast of fifteen chills your bones with its own terrifyingly-relevant portrayal of the Shakespearian epic.
Feel your spine curl at the murderous sparkle in Macbeth's eyes. Be captivated by his Lady's shadowed demise. Marvel at the exquisite detail of transforming the theatre stage into foreboding Scottish wilds.
"Macbeth does murder sleep."
This production will keep you awake all night as you realise just how real the motives behind Macbeth's dastardly deeds are.
Macbeth winds up its month-long showing at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) tomorrow April 13.
