is a modern pub in Campbelltown with good food and perhaps the best outdoor seating area in the vicinity.

This pub has had a chequered past and despite continuing divided loyalties about this place, it has to be said that provides a very pleasant location for a drink and a reasonably-priced dinner.

It must be said that the atmosphere here does depend upon when you show up. Thursday to Saturday nights are busier, tend draw a younger age group and the tavern is open much later.

Since its renovations, it really is becoming even more appealing for the selection of different areas it offers. One one side of the tavern there is the Pharoah's Lounge with its own bar, and next to it a Sports Bar area that has a little outdoor section of its own,

Then there is a more family-oriented indoor restaurant area, the main lounge and the beer garden, with another bar that caters to this whole second area.

I am a clear fan of the Macarthur Tavern during its slower periods mid-week. This place is the best in the area of an evening around sunset. You can relax in the covered beer garden which is partially open to the outside and which is one of the best designed of its type that I have seen in the Campbelltown area.

A different take on the more traditional beer garden, it has a more angular layout - but even this is softened by the addition of flower boxes and the view towards the hills behind and Macarthur.

The other draw of this place is the dinner deals that they offer. Mondays have to be my favourite with the 2 for 1, pizza and pasta deals. They have a wide selection of both pizzas and pasta and the portions are big enough to satisfy anyone.

There are a lot of different options and portion sizes are generous.

Aside from the food, there is often entertainment to be had. The Macarthur tavern is frequently host to local artists and has a weekly Trivia competition that could be worth checking out if you like to hoard random facts.

Sundays are commonly Family Fun Day at The Macarthur, so if you have young kids, consider bringing the family round for that.

One of the best things here is the generous amount of parking that rarely gets full except on weekends.

is also conveniently close to the Macarthur Railway station, which it overlooks. Buses also stop a short walk from the Tavern at the neighbouring Macarthur Square Mall.
