What's not to love about a farmers market? All of that fresh produce that has come straight from the farm, the homemade jams and cakes and the unbeatable aroma of fresh bread and coffee in the morning. Surely there's nothing better on a Sunday morning than this?

So what if I said, in my best infomercial voice, "But wait, there's more"? What if there was a place that combines the bucolic delights of a farmers market with the temptations of boutique market stalls?

Now that I have your attention I can tell you there is such a place and it is called the . This community event is held on the third Sunday of each month and is run by the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living.

Located near the entrance to the Australian Botanic Garden at Mount Annan, there is plenty of natural bushland and gardens to enjoy while you sample some boutique market delights. There are many products on offer from local small businesses and stallholders such as pure honey harvested at the Centre, spices, eggs, fruit, vegetables and plants. You can also sample jams and chutneys or purchase home-made cakes and sourdough breads. Plus there are stalls selling home wares and gifts, candles, essential oils, fermented products and jewellery.

There will be coffee and plenty of food stalls to choose from as well as entertainment for the kids in the form of face painting and a jumping castle. But this market is not just open to people. Man's best friend is also welcome, on a leash, so why not bring your canine bestie for a Sunday stroll.

The Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living (MCSL) is a not-for-profit organisation which provides information and training on all aspects of environmental sustainability including sustainable technology and chemical-free gardening. The Centre processes its own waste naturally, is powered by solar and wind-generated electricity, collects stormwater and rain water which is treated naturally on site and grows chemical-free produce in its vegetable gardens.

The Centre runs a weekly playgroup for pre-school children, offers free weekend workshops focussed on sustainable gardening and Garden to Table cooking ideas, trains school groups on recycling, energy, composting, gardening, animal care, worm farming and much more. The Sunday markets help support the running of the Centre.
