Since 2005, Macaron Day has been celebrated each March around the world in countries including France, United Kingdom, United States, Belgium, and Luxembourg. 2017 marks the very first year that Macaron Day will be celebrated in Perth.
On Macaron Day, participating macarons makers around Perth will offer a free macaron in exchange of a small donation to Sock it to Sarcoma, a charity which seeks to raise awareness of sarcomas and to raise funds for research. The organiser, Perth ŕ la Carte, chose to support Sock it to Sarcoma in memory of Western Australian celebrity chef Emmanuel Mollois who passed away earlier this year. It is a fitting tribute as Emmanuel was also one of the first pastry chefs to bring macarons to Perth.

Participating bakeries include La Galette de France in Nedlands (click here to visit La Galette de France's website), La Belle Sweets in Laithlain (click here to visit La Belle Sweet's website), Maison St Honoré in Caversham (click here for Maison St Honoré's website) and Rochelle Adonis in Highgate (for Rochelle Adonis's website, click here).
Each customer will be allowed a maximum of one macaron per location, while supplies last. At the discretion of each participating bakery, part of the day's macaron sales may also be donated to the charity. Bakeries are not obliged to offer free macarons after their supply has run out or before or after Macaron Day hours or if their shop normal trading hours is outside of Macaron Day hours. The available flavours at each location will be up to the participating bakery.
If you have a sweet tooth, you won't want to miss out ... so get in quick before they run out!
