The kitchen is tucked into a wonderful, hidden corner in western Kenmore and seems to be the right fit for Ashley, the new owner, who is all about living her values and sharing that with the public
Her philosophy translates to a plant-based menu with no meat and no dairy, with the exception of what you put into your coffee. She does however, have quite an array of other choices that are non-dairy that she urges you to try in your coffee. She creates interesting baked goods full of flavour, as well as creating a balanced diet and lifestyle that is healthy and all about compassion, the environment and conscious choosing.
The new space has a bright, modern edge, with doors that open right to the outside, so here again you have choice. You can be inside, or outside on the patio or perhaps take something to go and head to the park right adjacent to the coffee shop, a brilliant spot for hanging out.
Filled with trees, plants and grass, benches and a playground for the youngsters, you could come to the park and find a spot for quiet contemplation, yoga, reading or knitting as you sip a lovely concoction prepared by the ladies. Dogs are also welcome to come along with you.
Ashley, along with Gabby, the talented and artful barista, have been trying new and interesting takes on lattes. They have even done a tasting board, with 4 new and colourful lattes for study, and may eventually bring it out again on another day.
The Sunshine Specialty latte, one of the regulars on the menu, is a lovely combination of turmeric, ginger and other lovely spices to add a dash of healthy inspiration as well as tantalizing flavour. The mocha is just as beautiful, looking like a lovely sunrise in the cup.
On hand is a mouth-watering display of homemade goodies – banana bread, home baked bread, and muffins, amongst other things. All the items in the display case are made by Ashley who comments that she is still expanding her repertoire. If you are lucky enough you may find yourself there on the day when she brings out her Matcha muffin, complete with strawberry and pistachios.
Perhaps you love a good smoothie, there is no shortage of choice.
You really need to come and have a taste of today's goodies. You may even have to come back several times, as you will want to try everything. And if you value the same things as Ashley you may find yourself a permanent patron at the LYV Kitchen as well.
