The Lyrebird Community Enter located on Lyrebird Drive, Carrum Downs is one of the best community centres as it offer a wide range of activities. The community centre has a library, a toy library, and often hosts activities such as Zumba, karate lessons, gymnastics, dancing lessons and activities for toddlers and babies.

My family have used the centre to its advantage many times; my brother has even done karate lessons there, my sister used to do gymnastics there and I used the library growing up - I used to borrow about 15 books every 3 weeks.

It has a lovely environment filled with helpful people. There is also a great program that runs every Thursday night for teenage boys called "The Hangout", where boys aged 12-16 can learn how to cook, play games and just hang out and make friends; my 14 year old and 12 year old cousins, Jacob and Felix, go there and it has improved their social skills and they have made some new friends.

My brother and sister like to borrow books from the library and when they were a bit younger we used to go into the toy library. My mum has recently started doing free Zumba classes at the centre and is having a great time. I sometimes go down there to take my siblings to the library or if I need to print out something.

We all have our own existing library cards which only cost a dollars at the start to sign up, now we only need to pay when we print out papers.

The centre has lots to offer, especially their fantastic programs that they run for children and adults; it really helps and it doesn't cost a lot to enrol in the programs. It improves social skills, life skills and gets them out of the house.

My whole family will always support the Lyre Community Centre and we advise everybody living in the area to go and check it out.
