Lyons Community Centre is located in Lyons, the new suburbs on the northern side of Darwin. Lyons is named in commemoration of Tommy Imabulg Lyons, a Larrakia traditional owner (Greater Darwin Area). You can see some artworks around the building created by Larrakia Nation artists James Gaston, Peter Browne, Dianne (Deede) Quall, Dotty Fejo, Jocelyn Archer and Techy Masero.
Lyons Community Centre was built to gather people together for social gatherings and community groups. At the moment, Lyons Community Centre is home to a sports group offering zumba classes, yoga and meditation classes and martial arts workshops (Krav Maga). Northern Territory Ballroom Dancing also use Lyons Community Centre as the place for their weekly practice.
Lyons Community Centre also can be hired for meetings and corporate events, accommodating up to 60 people. A no alcohol policy applies at this Community Centre.
