Fish and chips to fall in love with
Good fish and chip shops are few and far between these days as many have been replaced by gourmet burger joints or dumpling cafes. So it was a "lucky find" one day while driving through Browns Plains to come across a fish and chip shop called 'Luv My Fish'. Catchy name, I thought, so I decided to drop in for a quick takeaway.
You won't miss the shop sign on the right when entering the shopping centre driveway.
They had a selection of dory, barramundi, cod, whiting, salmon, and snapper ready to be battered, crumbed or grilled. I chose crumbed cod with a small serve of chips and it was ready for collection within 10 minutes. The fish was fresh and tasty, served with a wedge of lemon and crispy, golden beer-battered chips.
The front of store display of fish fillets looks unassuming but, in fact, 'Luv My Fish' offers a comprehensive traditional menu of other foods like calamari, prawns, sea scallops, sandwiches and burgers, bacon and egg breakfast, seafood platters, tea and coffee, iced chocolate, and milkshakes. The "all day breakfast" menu is available until 5.00pm to satisfy hungry patrons looking for a hearty meal.
Since that first visit a couple of months ago, I've had a few more fish and chip meals there and I'm pleased to say that the service has been consistently friendly and prompt. The steady stream of customers is probably a good indication of the quality of the food and service.
